Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens presents Dr. Cheryl Charles, President and CEO of the Children & Nature Network in a lecture on the “Leave No Child Inside” movement on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 2 pm at the Happy Days Lodge (formerly Happy Days Visitors Center), 500 W. Great Garden Adventure is May 3 - October 31. This interactive exploration of the gardens and natural phenomena on the Estate is a fresh way to connect and experience nature at Stan Hywet.
Walk along new paths created by Stan Hywet’s horticultural staff — you’ll be visiting, discovering, exploring the outdoors in new ways and in areas of the Stan Hywet property that are a little “off the beaten path” on our 70-acre estate. Included are treehouses, tunnels and “imagination stations” that will guide your adventure. And along the way, take in the work and outdoor sculpture of Akron’s own P.R. Miller, Stan Hywet’s 2008 artist-in-residence.
A self-proclaimed “junkyard artist” and über-recycler, Mr. Miller will be creating installations on the Estate, including 100 giant flowers for the property, made out of reusable and cast-off materials like plastic purgings, machine turnings and other found objects.
Bring your children, bring your friends and and family and connect with nature at Stan Hywet's Great Garden Adventure. To plan your visit to Stan Hywet, click here.
