Stan Hywet is open Tuesday-Sunday, April-December from 10am-6pm.
Admission closes at 4:30pm. There is no admittance to the estate after 4:30pm.
The entire estate is closed to the public on Mondays, EXCEPT Labor Day when regular hours apply.

September Highlights

Autumn Harvest Herb Tea
September 11, 11am-1pm
Your own garden can be the source of some delicious herbal tea. Learn how to grow and use herbs with Caryn Reynolds, an accomplished chef who grows herbs in her backyard. Caryn shows us how to make delicious herbal tea. Refreshments include fresh herb tea, fresh bread with seasoned olive oil, and caprese salad kabobs.


Grandparents' Day
September 12, 10am-6pm
In celebration of families, grandparents receive free admission to the Estate on Grandparents’ Day. Make plans to bring the whole family to enjoy the festivities. The Manor House and grounds will be open with self-guided tours that give you time to experience history and horticulture at your leisure. Special programming includes a family tree educational corner (1-5pm) and musical entertainment by a capella quartets of the Akron Derbytown Chorus (2-3:30pm). The afternoon also includes an ice cream social in the courtyard for just $3 a bowl. You may purchase tickets for the ice cream in advance or upon arrival.

Music in the Manor: Opera Per Tutti

Enjoy romantic arias, duets and art songs in the Music Room of the Manor House. Opera Per Tutti founder, soprano Andrea Anelli and tenor Timothy Culver with pianist Jeanette Davis,
will perform selections by Puccini, Gounod, Strauss, Faure and others.

Cellist Michael Haber and music colleagues (many from The Cleveland Orchestra) perform in the Music Room of the Manor House.

Fun Days at Stan Hywet
Saturdays, May-September 10am-4pm

Fun Days engage guests of all ages and abilities in entertaining physical activities on the grounds of Stan Hywet. Staff will be available to facilitate and activities will vary from Fun Day to Fun Day. Activities include: giant chess & checkers in the Great Garden, ultimate Frisbee, croquet, bocce ball, badminton, clock golf, kickball, horseshoes, relay races, scavenger hunts, cornhole, parachutes, guided trail walks, giant balls on the Ellipse.

Discovering the Elusive Hugo Huber
Included in admission to Manor House tours

Discovering the Elusive Hugo Huber is on display in the Manor House from April 1 – October 31, 2010. This exhibit is one of the first to take an in-depth look at the life and work of Hugo Huber, a key member of the New York design community at the turn of the 20th century, and the man who created the detailed interiors of the Manor House at Stan Hywet. Huber was well-known in his day and one of the earliest professionals in the field of interior decorating in the late 19th century—yet until now his accomplishments have been largely forgotten.

Once Upon a Pond

In the Corbin Conservatory

Two ponds joined by a shallow area in the middle are home to turtles, a variety of freshwater fish, including smallmouth bass, blue gills, perch and catfish; as well as a variety of water plants. This interactive educational display depicts pond life in Ohio, with programming that will change with the seasons. It explores ecosystems, animal life and ecology, and during warmer weather, the nearby Lagoon area will serve as the outdoor classroom for this exhibit where there are tadpoles, frogs, salamanders, ducks, painted turtles and box turtles in residence.


Sundays April-October
Woof Walk Sundays
On most Sundays, bring your favorite pooch for a walk at Stan Hywet. All dogs must be on a leash and owners must pick up after their dog. Dog admission is $5 in addition to the human-being admission fees.

Thursdays June 3-Sept. 23
Farmers’ Market at Stan Hywet
4-7PM
There is no admission fee to attend the Countryside Farmers’ Market at Stan Hywet. The market features a diverse mix of fresh nutritious and delicious produce grown by local farmers (including those who farm in the Cuyahoga Valley), locally raised meats and poultry, eggs, locally made cheeses, baked goods and other artisan foods. Enjoy entertainment and cooking demos, then walk the gardens after you shop.
