FULL-TIME

Maintenance Mechanic  The Maintenance Mechanic is a full-time employee who works to maintain the highest standard of property and building appearance and safety. Position performs general maintenance activities, repairs and improvements for all structures, equipment, vehicles and operating support systems. Scheduling and recordkeeping of service and preventative maintenance is a part of the position. A wide range of skills and talent will be utilized including painting, carpentry, mechanical, welding, basic electrical and plumbing. 
     Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience and working knowledge of general maintenance techniques. Some college or technical/trade school instruction is preferred.  Ability to operate various power equipment and hand tools required. Valid Ohio driver’s license is required.
 

Senior Horticulturalist  The Senior Horticulturalist is a full-time employee who maintains the highest professional standards of landscape appearance through plant health care and landscape maintenance in assigned public garden areas. Leads members of the team assigned to them by the Grounds Manager including staff and volunteers, following landscape maintenance practices in keeping with historic garden preservation. Performs horticultural tasks, including leaf pickup, pruning, chainsaw work, chipping, planting, weeding, snow removal.
     Provides support during public events, set-up and tear-down. Some non-traditional and weekend hours are required.
     Qualified candidate will have a degree in turf, entomology, horticulture, plant science or equivalent experience. Valid Ohio Driver license and pesticide applicator license required. 2-3 years in the horticultural industry is a plus. 

Turf Care Specialist  The Turf Care Specialist is a fulltime employee who maintains the highest professional standards of landscape appearance through plant health care and landscape maintenance in assigned garden areas and focusing on the maintenance and recovery of all turf areas on the estate.

 Performs mowing, assists with care of turf, including mowing, monitoring, diagnosing and treating insects, disease and weed conditions. Applies fertilized, pesticides and herbicides to turf or other garden areas. Performs “non-turf” horticultural tasks, including leaf pickup, pruning, chainsaw work, chipping, planting, weeding, snow removal.
     Qualified candidates will have a degree or formal training in Turf, Entomology, Horticulture, Plant Science or equivalent experience. A valid Ohio driver’s license and a pesticide applicator’s license will be necessary for this role. Two to three years of experience in the turf industry is a plus.

Greenhouse Technician  The Greenhouse technician is a full-time employee who performs a wide variety of propagation and greenhouse maintenance duties.  Position maintains high standards of plant appearance through appropriate plant health including cleanliness, watering schedules, environmental control, transplantation and pruning of plant life in the indoor growing areas, conservatory and surrounding grounds. Recordkeeping of inventory, plant materials used, schedules, labeling and display creation are a part of this position. 
     Qualified candidates should have 2-3 years of experience in the greenhouse industry; possess knowledge of plant varieties, characteristics and care; as well as propagation, disease and insect control.  A degree in horticulture, plant science or botany is preferred.   Ability to operate various power equipment and hand tools is required. A valid Ohio driver’s license is required and a pesticide applicator’s license is a plus.

SEASONAL PART-TIME (April - December, 2024)

Grounds Technician  The Grounds Technician is a seasonal employee that is under the guidance of a senior horticulturalist to complete specific tasks in an assigned garden area. Position performs a variety of basic landscape care such as weeding, watering, pruning and mulching.  Power equipment and hand tools will be used to maintain and preserve the historic grounds for guests to enjoy.
     Qualified candidates should possess knowledge of a variety of plant material and landscape maintenance practices, as well as the ability to operate relevant equipment to perform the job. Must have valid Ohio driver’s license.

Guest Services A member of the guest services team is a part-time, seasonal employee responsible for supporting the day-to-day front line activity in admissions, outdoor guest service areas, and special events. Qualified candidate will be self-motivated and attentive to detail. Must be able to maintain a professional attitude and demonstrate a superior level of hospitality skills when working with the public, volunteers, museum members and fellow employees.

This is an entry level position. Availability on weekends is required.

Staff enjoy a contributing level membership with reciprocal privileges at museums and gardens across the country, discounts in the museum's café and store, and breaks walking the 70 acres of beautiful grounds and well-tended gardens.

Guest Services Lead (Hospitality Coordinator)  The Guest Services Lead is a seasonal employee of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens hired by the President & Executive Director upon recommendation of the Director of Guest Operations. They are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day front-line activity. The Hospitality Coordinator is responsible for providing a superior level of hospitality skills to meet the expectations of Stan Hywet’s guests. 

Molly's Cafe Staffer  This position offers a flexible schedule and opportunity to develop and enhance customer service skills working in a beautiful setting. A member of the cafe staff is a seasonal employee responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of Molly’s Café at Stan Hywet. Duties include maintaining a professional attitude and demonstrating a superior level of hospitality skills working with the public, volunteers and staff, operating the point of sale system, preparing menu items following all food safety requirements, developing a basic knowledge of Stan Hywet’s tours, rentals, public programs, and membership opportunities and overseeing all visitor activity in the area.

Weekends are required. Previous food service experience is a plus. Must be of age to serve and sell alcohol. Will be required to obtain food service license. Regular hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Work hours will vary for specific Estate events.
