Visit the estate in 2018 for Health & Wellness - A Life Well Lived
The estate is currently closed for cleaning & restoration. We're also very busy preparing for the 2018 season of Health & Wellness - A Life Well Lived and the Seiberlings' appreciation of sustainability, health (including spiritual health), sustainability in farming and wellness fads.
The Seiberlings’ appreciation for fitness and well-being is threaded throughout Stan Hywet. The Manor House included a fully equipped gymnasium, indoor pool (known as “The Plunge”) and sleeping porches to take advantage of the fresh air year-round. Needle showers were installed as they were thought to promote good circulation. In the medicine cabinets, guests today will notice some of the era’s more popular fads — notions and remedies that were thought to ward off illness or otherwise maintain good health. The gardens and grounds were designed to promote an active outdoor lifestyle year-round, with tennis and roque (a form of croquet) courts, a bowling lawn, and lagoons for swimming and ice skating. Domestic staff and Goodyear employees were encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle, too. The family’s early 20th century focus on health and wellness set the standard for a life well lived.
