Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens encompasses 70 acres of gardens and grounds which are among the finest examples of landscape architect Warren Manning’s private work. His collaboration with Manor House architect Charles Schneider led them to intentionally position the home to take full advantage of the spectacular views and vistas of the Cuyahoga Valley, and to create gardens that blend in gracefully with the architecture.
Their collective vision is what makes Stan Hywet a stunning and unique setting for your garden wedding. One of the locations listed below will set the stage for a ceremony that is stylish, dramatic, elegant or intimate and tailored just for you.
In Front of the Manor House
Providing you with a perfect backdrop of the historic Tudor revival architecture, with its stunning leaded glass windows.
South Terrace at the London Plane Tree Allée
A natural aisle, the bride enters along the Allee, ending at the South Terrace where the full-length windows of the Music Room reflect your ceremony in the light.
Providing an exceptional example of the ideal English garden arrangement, the broad upper terrace opens from the Manor House, joins the expansive lawn and extends to the West Terrace Overlook and the Cuyahoga Valley.
Shaded by a tall tree canopy, The Dell is a secluded location hints at the historic wedding ceremony of Virginia Seiberling, married here in October 1919.
The English Garden
A hidden sunken garden, the English Garden was redesigned by pioneering landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman in 1928 and was restored in the 1990s. It is one of the few restored Shipman gardens open to the public. Brimming with perennials, this intimate garden is suitable for small weddings.
The Tea Houses and the Birch Tree Allée
Walk down the unique wedding aisle that is the 550 foot Birch Tree Allée, lined with more than 100 silver birch trees to the Tea Houses for your ceremony.
Your wedding venue should be as timeless as the institution of marriage itself. Whichever garden you select, Stan Hywet will provide the inspiration, natural beauty and historic grandeur to make your wedding day memorable.
