Museum & Historical Assistance Volunteer Positons
Gate Lodge Host/Hostess Volunteer 1, 2, 3 Volunteer Gate Lodge Host/Hostesses will greet guests who wish to tour the Gate Lodge Exhibit. Host/Hostesses will greet and monitor guests in a friendly manor, and may serve as a security officer, admissions clerk, and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens information center as needed. The Gate Lodge is not a volunteer-interpreted or guided space, but a self-guided “Birthplace of AA” exhibit for guests.
Manor House Interpreter Volunteer 1, 2 Volunteer Manor House Interpreters main responsibility is to interpret the Manor House and all of its interiors to our guests. Volunteer rotate taking tours out into the Manor within scheduled shifts.
Nooks & Crannies Interpreter Volunteer 1,2 Volunteer Nooks Interpreters give a Nooks Tour, offering guests a glimpse into the daily lives of the domestic staff. Is it a behind-the-scenes tour of the female and male domestic quarters, additional guest rooms, infirmary, lower level rooms, and other spaces not seen on the standard Manor Tour. *You must be a Volunteer Manor House Interpreter Volunteer prior to becoming a Nooks & Crannies Interpreter Volunteer.
*Manor Security Volunteer 1, 2, 3 As Volunteer Manor Security, your three main priorities are to protect the collection, provide customer service, and answer interpretive questions to the best of your ability. You must be able and alert and be able to continuously walk your area so you are aware of the locations of the guests and collections. This is an exciting way to get to know the Manor and its astounding collections, without having to learn and be trained on several series of interpretative and historical estate knowledge.
Collections Volunteer 1, 2 Collections Volunteers assist in the day to day responsibility for preserving, cataloging, restoring, and documenting the estate’s collections under the supervision of the Collections Department.
Note: Positions marked with an asterick (*) are much needed.
