Stan Hywet collaborates with outside organizations such as the Summit County Educational Service Center (ESC) and the Ohio State University Extension- Summit County  to offer a variety of on-site continuing education workshops and professional development sessions (many providing continuing education credits upon class completion) throughout the year. Join Ohio landscape and garden photographer Ian Adams, photographer for Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens: Centennial Edition and 20 other photography books, for a 1½-day hands-on workshop designed to help you create beautiful scenic and close-up photographs of Ohio’s most attractive landscapes and gardens with your smartphone, digital point-&-shoot or SLR camera.

Learn the best smartphone and digital camera settings for landscape and garden photography; how to take sharp, well-composed, beautifully lit scenic and close-up garden photographs; and tips on visiting and photographing some of Ohio’s best public gardens and arboretums.

12 noon-1pm
Lunch - pack a picnic, or purchase from Molly’s Café

1-4pm
Join Ian for an optional afternoon photo shoot in the gardens during the peak of fall color.

--Join Ian for an optional half-day morning review and critique of your best garden photographs. Learn tips for organizing and fine-tuning your digital photographs on a PC or Mac, using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop

Manor House Room-By-Room Restoration Update

Last year Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens began a $1M restoration of 15 spaces in the Manor House. Join Stan Hywet’s Director of Museum Services & Curator Julie Frey and Intermuseum Conservation Association Assistant Objects Conservator, Claire Curran for a presentation about a few of the restoration projects already completed --  including the Goodyear Chest, an early example showcasing Charles Goodyear’s vulcanized rubber paint.
