Stan Hywet collaborates with outside organizations such as the Summit County Educational Service Center (ESC) and the Ohio State University Extension- Summit County  to offer a variety of on-site continuing education workshops and professional development sessions (many providing continuing education credits upon class completion) throughout the year. Description: Think “holistic healthy living” is a new idea? Think again. 100 years ago, Stan Hywet was specifically designed to promote the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of not only the Seiberling family, friends and guests but also their staff! Join Dr. Kristine Gill RN, PhD. on an interactive journey throughout the manor house (including former domestic staff areas) and surrounding gardens to discover the special features that continue today to encourage health and overall “wellbeing.” This specialty tour lasts approximately 2-2 ½ hours.

GARDENING GURUS Adult Workshops

Gardening Gurus workshops are intended for adults who have an interest in planning, creating and maintaining both functional and beautiful home spaces. The “Gardening Gurus” are members of Stan Hywet’s staff who have both expertise in, and a passion for the art, science and tools of successful garden cultivation and management. Grounds admission is included in the workshop fee. Take a walk on the grounds before or after your class.

Shop for spring plants at Stan Hywet's annual plant sale, then learn how to create containerized plantings for your own space.  Consult with a Stan Hywet horticulture staff member and learn some planting and design tricks in a variety of container sizes, to acheive the best look for your garden. Discover everything there is to know about pollinators and why they are important to the environment. This class includes a tour of Stan Hywet's Pollinator garden and butterfly habitat, where you'll gain a better understanding of how to choose plants that provide an abundance of food for our pollinator friends.  Then visit Stan Hywet's bee hives on the estate, maintained by Urban Honey Bee, to see the inside of an actual working honey bee hive.  Grounds admission included.
