The volunteer program at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens shines with its own history, tradition of service, dedication, and growth in numbers. The organization began in 1957 with a few dedicated civic leaders and now boasts more than 450 traditional volunteers assisting to keep Stan Hywet operating and thriving. Our volunteers come from many diverse backgrounds and interests and contribute on average 45,000 hours of service annually.
Volunteers fill a variety of positions throughout the property that range from administrative duties to gardening, interpretation to curatorial assistants, and wedding guides to special event support. Adult and youth volunteers can choose from full-time, part-time, special event and/or corporate volunteer experiences that best fit their schedule.
As a Stan Hywet volunteer, you receive many benefits such as expanding your interest in the arts, history and gardening; 10% discount in the gift shop and café; an invitation to our annual Holiday Appreciation Event after accumulating 50 hours of service; award recognition after accumulating 100 hours of service; and so much more!
In addition to these volunteer experiences, you can also join a specific volunteer group and/or affiliate group where each has its own unique leadership, history, interests, and engagement at Stan Hywet. Click here for additional on volunteer groups and affiliate groups.
