Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens
Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens
The volunteer program at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens shines with its own history, tradition of service, dedication, and growth in numbers. The organization began in 1957 with a few dedicated civic leaders and now boasts more than 450 traditional volunteers that help keep Stan Hywet operating and thriving. Our volunteers come from many diverse backgrounds and interests and contribute on average 50,000 hours of service annually.

Volunteers fill a variety of positions throughout the property: administrative, gardening, museum interpretation, curatorial, wedding and special event support. Adult and youth volunteers may choose from full-time, part-time, special event and/or corporate volunteer experiences that best fit their schedules.

As a Stan Hywet traditional* volunteer, you receive many benefits such as expanding your interest in the arts, history and gardening; 10% discount in the gift shop and café; an invitation to our annual appreciation event, award recognition after accumulating 100 hours of service; and more. In addition to these volunteer experiences, you can also join a committee, a volunteer group and/or affiliate group where each has its own unique leadership, history, interests, and engagement at Stan Hywet.
