Guided Forest Therapy - for Families

July 26, Sept 12 | 11:00am-1:00pm

Slow down together and experience the calming power of nature during Guided Forest Therapy for Families at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens.

Join Amanda Essinger, IMFT-S, LPCC, RPT™, licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist and ANFT-Certified Forest Therapy Guide, for a meaningful two-hour guided experience on the estate grounds. Programs will take place:

• Sunday, July 26, 2026 | 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
• Saturday, September 12, 2026 | 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Each date will feature a unique theme designed to encourage families to explore, reflect, and connect in a supportive natural setting.

These invitations are intentionally curated to be simple, sensory, and open to infinite interpretations and experiences. After each invitation, participants are offered a space to share these experiences among the group. As the time together concludes, the program traditionally ends with sharing tea and camaraderie while reflecting on the experience, perhaps taking in what could be incorporated into our daily lives.

It is recommended participants wear comfortable, protective clothing suitable for the environment and weather conditions. Participants are encouraged to bring a rain jacket, water, and comfortable outdoor seating such as a folding chair, blanket, etc.

Forest Therapy — inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku (“forest bathing”) — is a research-supported wellness practice that promotes mindfulness and overall well-being. Through guided invitations and gentle sensory experiences, families will engage with the landscape in ways that encourage presence, communication, and shared discovery.
