Enjoy the estate in a whole new way by becoming a Stan Hywet volunteer. We have a variety of opportunities available, starting in mid-March. Here are some of roles we'll be looking to fill in Spring 2023:
Adopt-A-Plot Garden Volunteer

Assist with cultivating and maintaining a perennial plant bed in Stan Hywet’s Great Garden.
Education Volunteer

Help facilitate onsite educational programming, enrichment activities, and adult/youth learning in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.

Introduce guests to the world of pollinators and lead informal discussions along with interpretive experiences in the Butterflies of North America exhibit. ~Offered from mid-June to September only~
Manor House Front Door Host/Hostess

Greet and orient guests at the Manor House entrance.
Manor House Interpreter
-
Interpret the Manor House and its collections for touring guests. ~Afternoon and weekend availability preferred~
Special Events Assistant
- Assist with one or more of the following activities, depending on the event: set-up, parking, greeting, admissions/ticket scanning, beverage tent server, food tent server, clean up/tear down.
The Stan Hywet Historic Players
- History First Hand and Murder in the Mansion actors are part of The Stan Hywet Historic Players. Members of History First Hand develop a character profile of Stan Hywet domestic staff or friends of the Seiberling family and reenact scenes from 1920 for Vintage Days and Living History Days, in addition to special events and educational programs throughout the season.
- Members of Murder in the Mansion develop character profiles and storylines for Stan Hywet's annual murder-mystery 6-night performance event. In addition, Murder in the Mansion participants can also opt to assist with direction and production of the performances or guiding guests through the interactive portion of the event as group leaders.
Wedding Guide Volunteer
- Escort wedding parties and guests for various events at the estate -- including photography sessions, ceremonies, and receptions. ~Evening and weekend availability is a must~
