Butterflies of North America

Whether they are assisting young guests with feeding butterflies or providing interpretative education on the lifestyle of a caterpillar, volunteers in the Butterflies of North America exhibit have the opportunity to switch on a "light bulb" moment for guests of all ages about the science behind these beautiful pollinators.  Volunteers come with a range of knowledge from a general love of nature and interest in interpreting to previous educators and even Master Gardeners. They work side by side with Stan Hywet's Education Department to provide interactive instruction on butterflies and other pollinators, including how to make one's own backyard or garden an inviting space for these insects to gather.

Below is the butterfly habitat shift schedule. 2023 shifts will be added closer to June and the return of the butterflies. To add or change a shift, please contact the Education Coordinator.
